About Scratching Post

 I created this blog over 10 years ago. I revisited it a few times, and then it just sat here. There are few subjects I am passionate about, and my passions don't really relate unless you relate them to me, or probably many 30 to 40-something year-old moms. I suppose that is why this is my "Scratching Post". I am scratching down a little here and there about my interests.

Places

 I did not travel growing up. The first time I actually flew on a commercial flight was in college for my softball team. Once I got married, I knew I wanted to travel more. We started slow with a trip here and there, and then as we became more comfortable and money was easier to come by, we started to get away more. While we are still learning, I love to share what I have found to keep travel simple and places I have enjoyed.

What's Cooking

 Food is my love language. 

I started collecting cook books and cookie cutters in elementary school. I cook like a farmer's wife; probably because I come from a long line of farmer's wives, and I love to try new recipes. 

Right now, simple and fast is my jam. I can't wait to share my favorite recipes and meal ideas!

Home Body

 I am an introvert who recharges by being home. And getting everything in its place. My whole head feels jumbled if my house isn't in order.

We moved into a 1910 farmhouse and have completely renovated it in the past 11 years. We have put so much work into our house inside and out. I think my home is my biggest hobby. From organizing to updating, I spend most of my free time home.

Work for Fun

I have worked full time as a healthcare clinician for nearly 15 years. Working with the public can be rewarding, and sometimes exhausting. On the tough days,  I try to at least have a story to take away from all the chaos. My friends and family say I could write a book on those stories.
